O que significa estilo na escrita?
Muitos usam a palavra “estilo” como sinônimo de jeito peculiar de escrever; como sinônimo de maneira que uma pessoa tem de redigir.
Quem nunca ouviu alertas como:
“Não mexa nessa expressão porque o chefe gosta de escrever assim, é o estilo dele!”?
Bom, como veremos, o emprego da palavra aí quase sempre é tecnicamente errado.

Estilo é tudo que torna o texto mais agradável de ser lido.
Aplicar estilo ao texto é, sem desobedecer a regras gramaticais, deixar o que escrevemos mais convidativo para o leitor.
Eu sei que as conjunções “todavia”, “contudo”, “porém” e “entretanto” sempre estarão corretas no início de frases.
Como, todavia, também sei que colocá-las intercaladas no período, exatamente como fiz agora, confere mais ritmo à frase e faz com que o leitor goste do meu texto, não abro mão desse recurso, e isso por uma questão de ESTILO.
Meu ex-chefe não gostava de usar vírgula antes de “pois”.
Certa vez uma colega de trabalho me disse para não corrigir esse tipo de coisa porque seria estilo dele.
Ora, de estilo isso não tem nada. Pelo contrário.
Em muitos casos o não emprego da vírgula antes do “pois” chegava a atrapalhar a leitura, sem contar que estava gramaticalmente errado!

Quer dizer então que a palavra “estilo” não pode ser usada para fazer referência à maneira como certa pessoa escreve? Pode.
Eu, por exemplo, tenho um estilo.
Vocês que me acompanham aqui sabem que possuo um jeito próprio de escrever:
Gosto de fazer perguntas no texto, vez ou outra faço uma ironiazinha, uso períodos curtos… mas, vejam, faço isso para tornar a escrita mais gostosa; para fazê-los ficarem grudados, do início ao fim, ao meu texto.
Nesse sentido é que se pode dizer que tenho um estilo.
Conheço um magistrado que enche os acórdãos de termos arcaicos e de palavras que a maioria desconhece.
Isso é estilo? Claro que não.
Pode ser tudo: pedantismo, entendimento equivocado da língua, falsa sabedoria… mas estilo, tecnicamente falando, não é.
